Clifford the Big Red Dog teams up with Sunnyside Preschool & Kindergarten,
Carleton Farms and Whidbey Island Bank  to collect pajamas for local kids in need.

When it comes to making phonetic sense of the English language and the sound the letter P makes, it is difficult for children just learning to read to know how the words “pumpkin”, “pajamas” and “philanthropy” relate.

Sunnyside Preschool & Kindergarten, Carleton Farms and Whidbey Island Bank do know.
The local businesses have teamed up to participate in Scholastic’s Fourth Annual Great Bedtime Story PJ Drive. Thursday at Carleton Farms, well over 200 of Sunnyside Preschool & Kindergarten’s students and their parents attended the kick off of Scholastic’s Clifford the Big Red Dog’s 50th Birthday Party and “Pajamas for Little Pumpkins” drive.
As the guest of honor, Clifford was invited to fire the biggest pumpkin cannon at the farm.

Donations of new pajamas for infants through teen are being accepted at Whidbey Island Bank, Lake Stevens Branch, until the drive ends November 9. The pajamas will then be distributed to those in need in the community.
For each pair of pajamas donated Scholastic will match with a book donation. In the last three years, classrooms across America have been responsible for providing more than 180,000 pairs of new pajamas and books!
