Dr. Jason Bourne announced that he will bring back the successful candy buy back program, for the ninth year starting on November 1. With this year’s Halloween Candy Buy-Back Program, Dr Bourne is paying $4 for each pound of Halloween treats surrendered in his office. Two dollars will go to the child, and the other two dollars will be donated to the local Boys and Girls Club and the YMCA.
Last year, Bourne Orthodontics collected over 1,400 pounds of Halloween candy, allowing them to donate over $2,800! The donated candy is then sent to the troops serving overseas, local homeless shelters and humanitarian groups for trips to Africa.
Since its inception, the Bourne Orthodontics Halloween Candy Buy-Back has donated almost $13,000 and 6,400 pounds of candy. “We love this program because the kids still get to have fun ‘trick-or-treating’, plus they get money and save their teeth! Then we can give back to our community and the troops, it’s a lot of fun,” says Dr Bourne.
Halloween candy can contribute to tooth decay, and some candy can even damage patients’ braces.
The days immediately following Halloween are usually an orthodontist’s busiest time of year for emergency calls. He hopes that his Candy-Buy-Back Program will cut down on orthodontic emergencies and tooth decay, and help children, especially those wearing braces, enjoy the holiday. Bourne Orthodontics offices will accept children’s Halloween candy during normal business hours November 1, 5, 7,13 and 15 in the Lake Stevens office at 9633 Market Place, Suite 104. There is a limit of 25 pounds per person with this offer.
