Due to surface damage, Snohomish County is placing load restrictions on the westbound lane of Little Pilchuck Creek Bridge on Getchell Road west of Granite Falls.

Trucks and other large vehicles heading west from Granite Falls can use State Route 92 as an alternate route to access State Route 9 and points west.

Loads are limited to 10 tons for two-axle vehicles, 14 tons for three-axle vehicles and 22 tons for multi-axle vehicles with trailers. That weight roughly corresponds to unloaded semitrucks and dump trucks. If load restrictions don’t slow the rate of deterioration, Public Works will reduce the bridge to one lane of alternating traffic until permanent repairs can be completed.

County crews plan to replace the Little Pilchuck Creek bridge deck this summer with a new concrete decking system that will better withstand heavy truck traffic.

Heavy loads have been slowly deteriorating the surface of the bridge.
