In remembrance of the tragedies of Sept. 11, 2001 local members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will join members throughout the Northwest in a Day of Service.

On Saturday, Sept. 17, these members, also known as Mormons or Latter-Day Saints, will be providing service within their communities including right here in Lake Stevens.

Hundreds of local church members, along with those in the community who would like to participate will be splitting their service among three different venues.

Some will be participating in a beautification and renewal project at the Machias Cemetery located at 135th Ave. and 12th St. SE from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

They will also be taking donations of non-perishable food items at the cemetery.
These items will be given to the Lake Stevens Food Bank.

Other projects include pressure washing, staining and revitalizing the Kids Oasis Park at Mount Pilchuck Elementary and painting the City of Lake Stevens’ new industrial building at the 2400 block of 131st Ave NE.
Both of these projects will begin at 8:45 a.m. and continue until 1 p.m.

Families of all ages are invited to help in each of these projects.
