After a low scoring and highly defensive Lake Stevens High School football game last Friday, the Monroe Bearcats ended up beating the Vikes 9-7 at the Wesco North 4A opener at LSHS stadium.
The first half of the game brought points to the scoreboard only minutes before the teams headed to into the locker rooms for a half time rest when the Bearcats chose to go for a field goal making the score 3-0.
Both teams scored a touchdown in the third quarter and no points were added to the board in the fourth.
This makes Lake Stevens 2-2 so far this year and 0-1 in conference play.
Lake Stevens plays Mount Vernon on Friday at Viking stadium. The game starts at 7 p.m.
