The effort, and for the most part the execution, was vastly improved over the previous week’s collapse against Jackson but Lake still lost at Marysville last Friday, 36-20.

The Lake Stevens High School Girls Soccer team had their first game on Tuesday Sept. 8 against Marysville-Pilchuck High School where the Vikings led 2 to 0 (both scored by Sandra Osborne) through the first half and into the 30th minute of the second half.

Viking defense holds off Mariner season opener, 18-14
Lake’s undersized and inexperienced defensive line stepped up to shut out Mariner’s offense in the final three quarters to allow the Vikings to post an 18-14 win in the latter’s season and home opener on Sept. 4.

Lake Stevens wrestler finishes fifth in the nation
Washington has never been known as a powerhouse in Women’s Freestyle wrestling, however this year saw seven Washington wrestlers being named as All-Americans at the National Championships in Fargo, N.D. and Lake Stevens’ own JoMae Alewine was right there leading the way.
