Chad Andrews, a senior at Lake Stevens High School and North Cascades Crew rower, has qualified to compete in the Varsity Men’s Single event at Youth Nationals on June 12 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Andrews qualified to go to Nationals by placing second place at the USRowing NW Junior Regional Regatta at Vancouver Lake in May with a time of 7:43.11.
“Chad had a phenomenal race. He executed his race plan with the same dedication and perseverance with which he pursued his training. Chad also pulled the second fastest time in his event among all the US Regions which puts us in good contention at Nationals. We are thrilled he will be representing NCC at Nationals,” Coach Fleming Brainerd said.
Andrews has been diligently training under the guidance of coach Brainerd with North Cascades Crew to prepare for this very competitive event.
The U.S. Youth National Championships is a culmination of Youth regional championships and is held on Lake Harsha in Cincinnati, Ohio.
In order to participate in the Championships athletes must qualify by placing in the top three at their respective regional Championships.
A senior at Lake Stevens High School, Andrews plans to continue rowing after he graduates and will be pursuing a career as an EMT.
