Lake Stevens Rowing Club sent four rowers to Cincinnati, Ohio to compete in the US Rowing Youth Nationals Championships.
The two crews consisted of Brad Dickson and Andrew McCrea, both juniors at Lake Stevens High School and Michael Bresciano and Ryan Kessler. Bresciano attends Montessori Schools of Snohomish County where he is a junior and Kessler is a senior at Marysville-Pilchuck High School.
This was Breciano and Kessler’s first time heading to Nationals. They competed in the Men’s Lightweight 2x (double).
Dickson and McCrea competed in the Men’s Open Weight 2x (doubles) for the second year in a row. Last year the duo took the bronze medal but this year they came home with a silver.
The annual event was held on Cincinnati’s Harsha Lake.
Other Lake rowers had noteworthy finishes at the US Rowing NW Juniors Regionals, just missing the opportunity to head to the National competition.
Captain Janae Schultz, a LSHS junior, and Karoline Brodie, a sophomore at Everett High School, took fourth place in the Women’s Open Weight 2x.
David Barr rowed his way into fourth place in the Men’s Open Weight 1x (single). Barr is a senior at Sky Valley Education Center in Monroe.
In the Men’s Open Weight 4x (quad) Kessler, Barr, McCrea and Dickson finished fourth.
