Girls fastpitch team captures NSA Western World Series

The Everett Express 10-U fastpitch softball team, a girls select team based in Lake Stevens, captured the National Softball Association (NSA) Western World Series 10-U championship on July 14 in Hillsboro, Oregon.
The Express, with half of its roster and two of its coaches hailing from Lake Stevens, defeated the Auburn (Washington) Acers 9-4 in the championship game to earn the regional title.
The team posted a 5-1 record in the double-elimination tournament in order to capture its sixth tournament title of the 2010 season.
The Express won the 2009 NSA state championship and finished second in 2010 in both the American Softball Association (ASA) and NSA state tournaments prior to them winning the NSA regional title on July 14.
